Held around December each year, the Lock & Load Alpine Show is the oldest surviving motorsport event in Australia and the second oldest rally in the world! Only a handful of motorsport events, including the French Grand Prix, the Monte Carlo Rally, the Indianapolis 500, Pikes Peak Hill Climb and the Italian Grand Prix, are older.
The Alpine was first run in 1921, as the “Alpine 1000 Mile Trial” by the RACV. It is the oldest motorsport event in Australia and the second oldest rally in the world behind the Monte Carlo Rally.
The Historic Rally Association reinvigorated the event in 2001 and moved to its new home of East Gippsland in 2003 and we cannot think of a better location in Australia to stage the 100th anniversary of the event.
The Alpine Rally of East Gippsland is a special stage rally for two-wheel drive classic rally cars from the 1960’s through the 1980’s. The event has regularly attracted the best gravel rally competitors, from Australia and internationally with competitors travelling from New Zealand, the UK and the USA in 2019.
The event will be based in Lakes Entrance and held over 3 1/2 days covering over 1,000 km, visiting Nowa Nowa, Orbost, Omeo and Bruthen, before finishing on the Lakes Entrance Foreshore.

Held around November each year, the Omeo Show is a highlight of the calendar year and attracts visitors and exhibitors from far and wide!
You can expect to see a bit of everything – horses, cattle, dogs, woodchopping, shearing, whip cracking, art, photography, cooking, lego – you name it, it’s there!

Held around March each year, the Omeo Hinnomunjie Cup is not to be missed. Enjoy the excitement of the road trip, the beautiful surroundings, the food, the fashion, and the connection to the local community in a day of relaxed country style, with all the excitement of up-close racing action. Held around November each year, the Omeo Caravan Muster is hosted at the Omeo Golf Course. A long weekend of caravanning, RV’ing and camping on the Livingstone Creek.
Bands and singers are in the evenings, fireworks too. There are market stalls, golf putting and hole-in-one competitions.
Children are catered for with entertainment, jumping castles, and sheep shearing competitions.
Coffee and food vans are on site. Barbecues, beer, wine and soft drinks are also available and comply with COVID.

Held on Easter each year, the annual Easter Rodeo is held at the Omeo Showgrounds. A fun event for adults and children alike, it’s a highlight on the local calendar!
